FAQ: The Great Florida Cattle Drive 2026

How often does this event take place?

The Great Florida Cattle Drive is held every five years. Our next event is scheduled for:

  • Dates: January 26–31, 2026
  • Location: The drive begins at the IFAS Deluca Preserve and travels south through Florida’s cow country, concluding at the Okeechobee Cattlemen’s Arena with a lively trail’s end celebration.
  • Activities: Participants will take part in daily cattle drives, camp under the stars, and enjoy evening entertainment that showcases Florida’s rich cowboy heritage.

Is registration open for the 2026 Great Florida Cattle Drive?

Yes! Registration is currently open and will remain so until December 1, 2025. Reserve your spot here: Register Now.

Registration problem?

When registering multiple individuals, a separate registration form must be completed for each person. Please ensure that you complete a form for every individual to finalize their registration. Registrations cannot be processed without this step. For example, if you are registering two or more people, you must fill out a form for each participant. Failure to do so will result in an incomplete registration.

The number of forms you see is contingent on the number of registrations you selected. We need the information for each person you are attempting to register, not just yourself.

What is the refund policy?

  • Full Refund: Cancellations made at least 60 days before the event.
  • 50% Refund: Cancellations made 31 to 59 days before the event.
  • No Refunds: Cancellations within 30 days of the event.

Are waivers required?

Yes, waivers are mandatory for all participants. These waivers will be sent with your registration confirmation. Each participant must sign and have their waiver notarized.

Submission Deadline:

Signed and notarized waivers must be emailed to the GFCD contact by December 15, 2025. Failure to submit waivers by this date means you’ll need to bring valid waivers to the event for on-site notarization.

Mail your signed waivers to:

Does the GFCD provide horses for the ride? Unfortunately, no. If you don’t own a horse, you’ll need to arrange for a lease to participate in the ride.

What are the horse requirements?

  • Florida Horses: Must present proof of a negative Coggins test during onsite registration check-in at the event.
  • Out-of-State Horses: Must present both a negative Coggins test and a valid health certificate during onsite registration check-in at the event.

Is horse feed provided?

Yes, horse feed is included! During registration, you’ll select the feed your horse needs. Feed will be transported in a separate trailer assigned to your wagon circle, which is determined by the county you reside in.

Important Notes:

  • The provided horse feed does not count toward your 60-pound personal gear limit.
  • To ensure your horse receives proper nutrition, please confirm your feed selections during registration.
