2026 Lead Circle Boss

Meet Your 2026 Lead Circle Boss: Billy Johnson

Billy Johnson is a true Florida Cracker and cowboy at heart—a fourth-generation Florida Cracker, whose roots run deep in the Sunshine State. A man of faith, family, and country, Billy embodies the cowboy spirit both in and out of the saddle.

An Army veteran who proudly served his country during Desert Storm. Billy continues his commitment to service today through his volunteer work with Operation Outdoor Freedom. This organization helps provide outdoor experiences for veterans. For more than twenty years, he’s worked with Duke Energy in various roles, balancing his career with a life dedicated to giving back.

When he’s not working, you’ll likely find Billy and his wife, Theresa, at the Florida Sheriff Youth Ranch in Live Oak. There, he mentors young people, teaches horsemanship, assists with team roping, and fosters meaningful relationships with the next generation. And when the day’s work is done, Billy enjoys the simple pleasures of cowboy life — day working around town, fishing at Pine Island, or traveling the country with his horses.

Billy and Theresa raised two daughters, Kandrin and Kodi, who were active in 4-H and FFA. Together, they spent years on the road showing award-winning steers, registered bulls, heifers, and commercial cows. Now, the family tradition continues through his grandchildren. Two of them, Lane and Lily, are following in their mother’s footsteps, showing homegrown heifers from the family’s Bo-Legs Cattle Company in Lake Wales, Florida.

The 2026 Great Florida Cattle Drive marks Billy’s third ride. This year is especially meaningful — he serves as Lead Circle Boss and a dedicated board member. Alongside a passionate team of volunteers, Billy has spent countless hours hosting horse clinics, coordinating chuck wagons, and planning every detail to make this reunion ride one to remember.

From mentoring kids to preserving Florida’s ranching heritage, Billy Johnson is the kind of cowboy who keeps the spirit of the Great Florida Cattle Drive alive — one hoofbeat, handshake, and helping hand at a time.

You’re sure to see the 2026 Lead Circle Boss throughout the ride. Be sure to thank him for all his hard work.
