Why did Dick Blaudow sponsor the 2026 GFCD?
“I’m an old guy with an appreciation of the life of the people that settled our country,” says Dick Blaudow. “I spent my life in corporate America, at 72, I decided to buy a horse and a ranch, I love this life.” Dick went on the 2022 ride and grew an even deeper appreciation for the life of cattle ranchers. “It’s more than a lifestyle, he said, it is their life.”
He says it was a test for him, to see if he could live on the trail for a week. “I had never done anything like that in my life. I learned so much about the life they live, their values, and their love of the land, Blaudow says.” When the planning began for 2026, Mr Dick Blaudow was one of the first to step up with sponsorship. When asked why he felt the need to sponsor, he said, “I have the means, I enjoy the people and the purpose, I’m happy to do my part.”
The chuckwagon is the heart and soul of any cattle drive. They provide hearty meals, warm coffee, and a place for cowhands to share stories and build camaraderie under the stars. Thanks to this sponsorship, our riders will experience the authentic taste and hospitality of the trail.
