GFCD: Recommended Packing List

Discover the essential packing list for the Great Florida Cattle Drive.

Get prepared for an unforgettable adventure! Please note: Participants are limited to 60 pounds of personal gear and equipment. This event features primitive camping with no access to showers or electricity. All gear will be transported in an open stock trailer, so to safeguard your belongings from possible rain, we strongly recommend packing them in waterproof containers such as trash bags, Ziplock bags, or similar solutions.

This unique experience is designed to authentically replicate a historical Florida cattle drive from the late 1800s to early 1900s. To fully embrace the spirit of the event, participants are encouraged to wear period-appropriate clothing. For your convenience, we’ve provided a list of suggested retailers below. While not affiliated with the event, these resources can help you find suitable attire.

January is typically one of Florida’s coldest months, featuring chilly mornings that warm up by the afternoon. Dressing in layers is essential for staying comfortable throughout the day. Rain is also a possibility, so sturdy rain gear is highly recommended. Full-length “saddle slickers” are particularly effective, offering protection for both you and your saddle.
